President John Dramani Mahama will leave Accra today for the 69th United Nations (UN) General Assembly meeting in New York.<\/p>\n

He is expected to join his colleague Heads of States in the General Assembly\u2019s deliberations and hold bilateral talks with other leaders.<\/p>\n

Presidential spokesperson, Ben Dotsei Malor told media men that the President will also make a case for investments in Ghana and the whole of the West African sub-region.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will highlight Ghana\u2019s favourable standing in the world as a nation with one of the highest returns on investments and also as a very attractive destination for foreign direct investment and for businesses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”O00av4J17EvWn4SgHQLgNuIaLB1vEYFi”]According to him, the President is expected to highlight his transformation agenda as outlined during his presentation of the State of the Nation address earlier this year.<\/p>\n

His focus will particularly be on the need for Ghana to reduce its current heavy dependence on imported goods which could easily be produced locally.<\/p>\n

In relation to the outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) which has killed over 2,300 people in three West African nations, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, the President will intensify his advocacy for support to eradicate the disease.<\/p>\n

His advocacy is also aimed at achieving a concerted international support in the fight against the disease.<\/p>\n

President Mahama will later deliver lectures at the Harvard University and some other Universities.<\/p>\n
