Ghanaians would have to deal with unannounced power outages following a notice from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) that it has suspended the release of the load shedding time table.<\/p>\n
According to the ECG, it had to hold on in order to prepare a reliable time table for Ghanaians.<\/p>\n
Ghana is currently undergoing a load shedding exercise due to the interruption of gas supply from Nigeria to Ghana\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>through the West African Gas pipeline.<\/p>\n The interruption was caused by labour unrests in Nigeria as workers have laid down their tools.<\/p>\n The Energy and Petroleum Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah earlier directed the ECG to release a time table to help citizens plan their lives in accordance with the schedule since the power rationing is due to intensify.<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”tj8UprICN9OdacKI1fbcYOTbzvnDx5Ja”]In an interview with Citi News<\/strong> however, the head of Public Relations at the ECG, William Boateng, said his outfit unfortunately, had to reschedule the release date for the timetable for further consultation with stakeholders.<\/p>\n He indicated that a meeting with stakeholders will soon be conveyed \u201cand we are sure they will give us a better outlook, a better understanding of the situation and then we will plan something and come out.\u201d<\/p>\n Boateng disclosed that gas has not been supplied to Ghana since Tuesday and the Asogli thermal plant is also down because it depends solely on gas.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat it means is that we have a bigger figure in terms of deficit and so the timetable will not be reliable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He appealed to Ghanaians to hold on a while because \u201cwe don\u2019t have to do something that customers will not use it or will not be of any value to customers and that is why we decided to hold on.\u201d<\/p>\n A press briefing will be called for \u201cand then we will explain to the public.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
