The Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan and second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joe Ghartey,\u00a0has pledged to support the campaign of two-time presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n

Ghartey was contesting to lead the NPP in 2016 as presidential candidate but withdrew from the race despite surviving the Super Delegates\u2019 Congress.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”WzfdnDo8UJTU29eldSmjVJRxgqu2ZY2X”]Speaking at Akufo-Addo’s thank you tour in the Central Region, Joe Ghartey announced his support saying, \u201cI know I am not contesting again so everyone should know the candidate I will be joining but because I have not formally spoken, people are confused and are speculating\u2026Nana Addo trained me as a lawyer and today I am here so I took a phone and called Nana Addo and told him I am for him and everything is in place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another contestant, Kofi\u00a0Osei Ameyaw also\u00a0dropped out of the race<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>and joined the campaign team of Nana Addo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nana Akufo-Addo accepted Ameyaw’s support noting that, it will strengthen his campaign to wrestle power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/p>\n

Joe Ghartey and Osei Ameyaw\u2019s withdrawal leaves only three candidates who will be competing for the presidential ticket at the NPP\u2019s October 18 congress.<\/p>\n

The three candidates are; Nana Akufo-Addo, Francis Addai Nimo, who is the MP for Asante Mampong, and former Trades Minister, Alan Kyerematen.<\/p>\n
