Basic school pupils in the Tolon District of the Northern Region have been displaced by severe rainstorms which ripped off the roofs of their classrooms.<\/p>\n
Basic schools have resumed across the countries and the situation has forced the affected pupils to study under trees.<\/p>\n
One of the severely affected schools is the Woribogu Ahmadiya Primary School where teaching and learning materials got soaked by the continuous rains.<\/p>\n
It is for this reason that Bayport Financial Services is deepening its financial commitment to assist needy but brilliant pupils in rural communities especially those in the Tolon District.<\/p>\n
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the institution on ‘my first day in school’ freely distributed a large quantity of exercise books and drinks to pupils of some selected schools in the district.<\/p>\n
According to Bayport Financial Services Manager in charge of the Northern Ghana, William Majeed Mahama, the intervention sought to encourage pupils to be regular in school.<\/p>\n
He reaffirmed the institution\u2019s commitment to assist authorities in the education sector to overturn the falling standard of education in the country.<\/p>\n
He said the institution will continue to commit enough resources to complement the efforts of government and other development partners to make quality education delivery accessible to all pupils regardless of their geographical locations.<\/p>\n
William Majeed thereby urged teachers to take advantage of Bayport Financial Services loans to improve their living conditions.<\/p>\n
Tolon District Director of Education, Amoli Abaako thanked Bayport Financial Services for the kind gesture.<\/p>\n
He called for more support from other civil society organizations and philanthropists to improve the standard of education in the district.<\/p>\n
Amoli Abaako cautioned teachers in the district against absenteeism and lateness to school.<\/p>\n
He also implored the teachers to beware of cholera and the deadly Ebola disease and intensify their lessons on good hygienic practices.<\/p>\n
Assistant Director of the Tolon District Assembly, Sumani Abdullah said education will remain top on the assembly\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n
He admonished circuit supervisors in the district to strengthen their supervisory roles in schools.<\/p>\n
As an annual ritual, Bayport Financial Services has since 2010 been assisting needy but brilliant pupils financially to keep them in school.<\/p>\n
The institution is also noted for supplying teaching and learning materials to some deprived schools throughout the country.<\/p>\n
