The President and Chief Executive Officer of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, Boo-Keun Yoon has called on the consumer electronics industry to improve their respective industry standards in order for people to meet and adapt to unique needs and lifestyle.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe home of the future is not about the technology, nor is it about being smart and connected,\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about human-based innovation. It\u2019s about technology that isn\u2019t overwhelming and works discretely behind the scenes to adjust to consumers\u2019 needs at the right time.\u201dMr. Yoon said.<\/p>\n
As part of Samsung\u2019s vision for \u201cbringing the future home,\u201d Mr. Yoon said the \u2018Home of the Future\u2019 will adapt to people\u2019s needs through three key attributes,<\/p>\n
Show Me<\/b>: It will make complex data visible and useful so people can make better choices.<\/p>\n
Know Me<\/b>: It will learn people\u2019s needs and recognize lifestyle patterns.<\/p>\n
Tell Me<\/b>: It will proactively adjust to their needs and provide suggestions without being asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want Samsung to be remembered as a technology company,\u201d Mr. Yoon said. \u201cI want us to be remembered for providing unique experiences, because true innovation today is centered on people and their dynamic needs and lifestyles.\u201d<\/p>\n
Billion Homes of the Future<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Mr. Yoon further noted that each future home will be tailored to the different needs of those who live there. \u201cIn this way, there will not be one Home of the Future, but a billion Homes of the Future that are tailored to the unique passions and needs of people,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n Concluding his keynote address, Mr. Yoon added that the future home is not far away \u2013 and that the change ahead will be dramatic for many fields.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are thrilled to work together with Samsung,\u201d said Alex Hawkinson, CEO of SmartThings. \u201cWith the scale of resources and support from Samsung, we\u2019ll be able to expand our platform to even more partners and devices. We\u2019ve come so far, in such a short time, and are really excited for what\u2019s ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe opportunities ahead are enormous,\u201d Mr. Yoon said. \u201cThe \u2018Home of the Future\u2019 will not just boost the tech industry, but will create more jobs and a ripple effect across society \u2013 from energy efficiency to safety, and independence for our increasingly aging population. By collaborating with industry partners, Samsung is well positioned to lead and drive this transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n Samsung showed a future home concept video that combined currently existing technologies with those of the future, further illustrating just how near the future home is.<\/p>\n Samsung is one of the companies best equipped to turn this vision into a reality.
