Some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Tema Central Constituency, have secured an interlocutory injunction on the constituency’s executive election.<\/p>\n
The injunction is against the eligibility of the executives of 24 branches of the party in the constituency.<\/p>\n
Mr Watson Tizor Apentsui, Tema Metropolitan Electoral Officer, said \u00a0due to the injunction, the NDC Tema Central elections scheduled for Friday, September 11, was postponed.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”H6Sv6Qo9a3iT2Z2l7qMtc8f9I6OGHP4n”]Mr Apentsui said a copy of the injunction was sent to the Tema office of the Electoral Commission on Friday at about 0700 hours.<\/p>\n
He explained that the injunction was to contest the procedure used in appointing the executives for those 24 branches to become delegates to vote in the election.<\/p>\n
He said until the Tema High Court sat and move the motion on the injunction on September 16, the EC would not be able to conduct the election.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the NDC Tema East and West constituencies had successfully elected their executives.<\/p>\n
At the Tema West constituency, 616 out of the 640 delegates cast their vote.<\/p>\n
Mr Apentsui declared Mr Ben Ganyo Doe, who pulled 287 votes, as the newly elected chairman.<\/p>\n
Mr William Ebo Enu had 260 votes to emerge the vice chairman, while Mr Andrews Okine Okai was also declared the secretary after polling 275 votes.<\/p>\n
Mr John Doe Amesi and Mr Wlliam Adortse polled 218 and 356 votes to emerge the deputy secretary and organiser respectively.<\/p>\n
Hajia Anisa Yakubu received 482 votes to become the constituency treasurer, while the deputy treasurer position went to Mr Alexander Tettey, who polled 210 votes.<\/p>\n
Mr emmanuel Noble Kor was declared the propaganda secretary, while Madam Peace Aku Ashong and Madam Sophia Mensah emerged as women’s and deputy women’s organisers respectively.<\/p>\n
Mr Gabriel Lucky Ocansey was voted the youth organiser while Mr Suley Musah and Mr Eric Arthur retained their positions as deputy youth organiser and deputy propaganda secretary respectively.<\/p>\n
Mr Apentsui said another election would be held to determine who would be the deputy organiser due to the 164 votes received by each contestant; Mr Henry Ubor and Mr Seth Kwaaku Matanawui.<\/p>\n
The Tema East Constituency election saw the election of a new chairman Alhaji Mahama Bulisa, who polled 192 of the 507 votes to unseat the incumbent Mr Mustapha Darko who placed third with 88 votes.<\/p>\n
Mr Garnet Dorgbey, Mr Baba Abu Abdulai and Mr Adam Iddrisu were declared the vice chairman, secretary and deputy secretary respectively.<\/p>\n
