{"id":47006,"date":"2014-09-12T16:12:05","date_gmt":"2014-09-12T16:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=47006"},"modified":"2014-09-12T20:10:40","modified_gmt":"2014-09-12T20:10:40","slug":"another-injunction-on-3-ndc-constituency-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/09\/another-injunction-on-3-ndc-constituency-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"Another injunction on three NDC constituency elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A human rights court has placed an injunction on this weekend\u2019s National Democratic Congress (NDC) elections in three constituencies.<\/p>\n<p>The constituencies are the Madina, Ayawaso West Wugon and La Dadekotopon.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third time of such action in the Greater Accra Region in the last one month.<\/p>\n<p>In the latest development, \u00a0a member of the party, Bismark Aborbi-Aryitey in the\u00a0Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, dragged the party to court for wrongful disqualification of his bid to become the Youth Organizer for the constituency.<\/p>\n<p>The writ, cited by <strong>citifmonline.com<\/strong>, ordered that &#8221; the defendants, whether by themselves, their servants, assigns and privies are restrained from conducting the Youth Wing Election for Youth Organizers of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, 14th September, 2014.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;rwrz5DJvAApPnnMDOIXE8EHrn7JDkAM0&#8243;]In the Madina constituency, five party members secured the court order to prevent the elections on Saturday for similar reasons.<\/p>\n<p>An Accra Fast High Court\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/08\/court-restrains-ndc-two-affiliates-from-holding-constituency-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">restrained the two affiliates of the party<\/span><\/a><\/strong>: the Ningo Constituency and the Greater Accra Regional Executive Committee, from holding its elections on September 8.<\/p>\n<p>The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ade Coker described the decision as <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/09\/08\/suit-on-ningo-prampram-elections-bogus-ade-coker\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">\u201cfrivolous\u201d and \u201cvexatious.\u201d<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The four members had gone to court to seek a declaration that their disqualification by the Vetting Committee was illegal, unlawful and clear violation of Article 42 (1) of the NDC.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs are also insisted their disqualification was also in breach of the fundamental requirement of natural justice and that they should be given fair hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The members are Michael Kwetey Tetteh, John Doku Nartey, John Mensah and Daniel Tetteh Lartey.<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, a court threw out a similar suit which was brought before the court by an aspiring executive member of the party, Bossman Oduro-Fosu.<\/p>\n<p>The Court however dismissed the case saying it lacked merit.<\/p>\n<p><ins>\u00a0<\/ins><\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A human rights court has placed an injunction on this weekend\u2019s National Democratic Congress (NDC) elections in three constituencies.
