An <\/b>Educationist, Anis Haffar has called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to train pupil teachers rather than terminating their appointment.<\/p>\n
The GES\u00a0terminated the appointment of pupil teachers<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>for failing to upgrade themselves.<\/p>\n But according to Mr. Haffar, it will be unfair for the GES to render the pupil teachers useless, when they can be trained to improve the human resource in the educational sector.<\/p>\n Speaking to Citi News, the GES boss, Aheto Tsegah also insisted that the decision to dismiss the teachers, has nothing to do with a planned job retrenchment exercise by government.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”J1dWquWvBpC5NNZuwJkPTwypWNXBlJ17″]But in a rebuttal, Anis Haffar asked the service to rather recognize the purpose the pupil teachers serve and maintain them.<\/p>\n \u201cFirst of all the pupil teachers serve a purpose, we have to recognize that. The second one is that we cannot continue having pupil teachers in a professional situation year in, year out\u2026 we need to put them back ,\u201d he said<\/p>\n
