{"id":4652,"date":"2014-03-07T17:15:26","date_gmt":"2014-03-07T17:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=4652"},"modified":"2014-03-07T17:15:26","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T17:15:26","slug":"stop-campaigning-against-sitting-mps-npp-activists-urged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/03\/stop-campaigning-against-sitting-mps-npp-activists-urged\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop campaigning against sitting MPs &#8211; NPP activists urged"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_4653\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4653\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/david.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4653\" alt=\"David Prah\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/david.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"285\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4653\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Prah<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Eastern Regional Director of Communication of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. David Prah, has cautioned supporters of the party who are interested in contesting for parliamentary seats in the Region to desist from campaigning against sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).<\/p>\n<p>He said the Regional executive of the party were not happy about the way some members of the party in the Region had started campaigning against the sitting MPs with the aim of winning the heart of the delegates of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Prah said party members engaged in such activities should stop and threatened that the party would deal drastically with anybody\u00a0found to have unnecessarily attacked any sitting MP.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Prah, who spoke to the GNA in an interview at Koforidua on Thursday, \u00a0 said\u00a0\u201cthe situation, if not checked, had the tendency of\u00a0undermining the unity of the party in the region\u201d.<br \/>\nHe said information available to the regional executive of the party indicated that some party members interested in contesting for parliamentary seats were going round declaring their intentions to potential delegates and attacking MPs.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Prah said those members of the party engaged in attacking the MPs should be aware that members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would use use such inflammatory statements and mudslinging to campaign against the NPP during campaigns towards the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us remember that the interest of the party is supreme and it will not be good if due to our selfish interests a particular person wins his seat only for the party to lose power,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Prah said the regional executive were not against anybody interested in contesting any parliamentary seat but wanted to guard against the situation where the sitting MPs would be forced to abandon their core mandate to defend themselves.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to all supporters of the party\u00a0\u00a0who are interested in contesting any seat to think about the interest of the party first in order not to do anything that would derail the efforts of the party in retaining all seats it won in the last election possibly winning additional ones in 2016<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Eastern Regional Director of Communication of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. David Prah, has cautioned supporters of the party who are interested in contesting for parliamentary seats in the Region to desist from campaigning against sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).
