Ghana’s Sarkodie is up for nomination in this year’s upcoming MTV EMA awards. Sarkodie has been nominated along with\u00a0Anselmo Ralph (Angola),\u00a0Gangs of Ballet (South Africa),\u00a0Mafikizolo (South Africa), Sauti Sol (Kenya), \u00a0and Tiwa Savage (Nigeria) as wildcard nominees.<\/p>\n
The wild card nominee with the highest votes will join four other acts in the Best African Act category. Nigeria’s Davido, Goldfish from South Africa, Tanzania’s Diamond and Togolese Toofan has already secured their places and awaiting the fifth in the category who will be selected by fans via a Twitter vote.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”nrVxPL0jiC5XZ37z3esgssK3F3EFa2RF”]This is the first time the MTV EMAs is giving fans the exclusive rights to nominate an act for a category.\u00a0The Twitter vote is open until 14 September 2014 \u00a0after which the\u00a02014 MTV EMA<\/b>\u00a0nominees will be announced for voting to commence on 16 September 2014.<\/p>\n
Sarkodie will get a further career boost if he gets nominated, following the two nods he’s secured for the upcoming Channel O Music Video Awards. He will join the likes of 2Face Idibia, Freshlyground. D’Banj and LCNVL as the only Africans who have won the coveted MTV EMA award if he eventually wins.<\/p>\n
