The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ade Coker has described as “frivolous” and “vexatious” the decision by an Accra Fast High Court to restrain the party from organizing the youth, women and executive elections in the Ningo Prampram Constituency.

[contextly_sidebar id=”jRQCEwZVTrv50aXOzJXn6rpydZbH1joa”]The Accra Fast High Court on Friday restrained the two affiliates of the party: the Ningo Constituency and the Greater Accra Regional Executive Committee, from holding its elections on September 8.

But speaking to citifmonline.com, Mr. Coker said the decision is of no consequence.

“This case is of no consequence and we are going to fight the case in the Court” he stated.

He said one of the plaintiffs, Michael Quaye Tetteh, has been automatically disqualified from contesting on the ticket of the party since he filed a lawsuit against the party.

“Michael Tetteh who is the first plaintiff was a member of the National Democratic Congress. He filed to contest the parliamentary seat of Ningo Prampram but by that virtue [filing a lawsuit], he has shown his conduct to the party and he cannot come and contest on the NDC ticket.”

The Court presided over by Mr Justice Mustapha Habib Logoh granted an ex-parte motion filed by four party members.

The four members had gone to court to seek a declaration that their disqualification by the Vetting Committee was illegal, unlawful and clear violation of Article 42 (1) of the NDC.

The plaintiffs are also insisting their disqualification is also in breach of the fundamental requirement of natural justice and that they should be given fair hearing.

The members are Michael Kwetey Tetteh, John Doku Nartey, John Mensah and Daniel Tetteh Lartey.

This is not the first time a member of the party has asked the court to place an injunction on the party’s elections at that level.

On Friday a court threw out a similar suit which was brought before the court by an aspiring executive member of the party, Bossman Oduro-Fosu.

The Court however dismissed the case saying it lacked merit.
