There are mixed reactions from New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in the Northern Region over comments by their Chairman Daniel Bugri Naabu to “smoke out” delegates who did not vote for Nana Akufo-Addo at the super delegates’ congress.

Bugri Naabu in a live interview on Eye Witness News claimed that all delegates in the region pledged to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo ahead of the super delegates’ congress.

He later found out eight of them failed to fulfill their promise after swearing by the Bible and Qur’an, hence his decision to set up a committee to investigate, find the culprit and punish them.

[contextly_sidebar id=”UFuguVBYHTPeKcpZZgVypqJifN46ZRRt”]Bugri Naabu has since issued a statement claiming he was “merely joking.”

Whilst some party supporters have welcomed his call, others are of the opinion that it is a misplaced call.

The NPP Northern Regional Communications Director, Mohammed Abdul Kudus is one of those who have openly disagreed with Daniel Bugri Naabu’s call.

He dispelled the regional Chairman’s allegation that all delegates in the region swore either the Bible or the Qur’an to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo en bloc.

Mohammed Abdul Kudus said none of the delegates were coerced to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo during the super delegates’ congress.

According to him, the eight delegates did no wrong by exercising their franchise based on their conscience.

He said the regional Chairman’s outburst was unfortunate and ill-advised.

He claimed the outspoken NPP regional Chairman was emotionally carried away.

Mohammed Abdul Kudus thus advised the NPP leadership and all members in the region to stop washing their dirty linen in the mass media.
