{"id":44463,"date":"2014-09-03T13:31:18","date_gmt":"2014-09-03T13:31:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=44463"},"modified":"2014-09-03T13:44:14","modified_gmt":"2014-09-03T13:44:14","slug":"govt-must-upgrade-tema-general-hospital-mce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/09\/govt-must-upgrade-tema-general-hospital-mce\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t must upgrade Tema General Hospital -MCE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Municipal Chief Executive for Tema, Isaac Ashai Odamtten is calling on government to upgrade the Tema General hospital to the status of a regional hospital.<\/p>\n<p>This, according to him, will enable the hospital deliver efficiently on its core mandate of providing quality health care to patients.<\/p>\n<p>As the main referral health centre for most hospitals in Tema and its environs, the hospital has not seen any major rehabilitation, since its construction in 1954.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital is presently faced with number of challenges impeding the provision of quality healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>Presently, the hospital&#8217;s maternity wards is too small to serve the number of women who come to the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the <strong>Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>, Isaac Ashai Odamtten emphasized the need to upgrade the facilty in order to meet the needs of the increasing population.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is time for us to look at Tema regional hospital as a regional hospital because most of the institutions or establishment fall within the catchment area of Tema and Tema is seen as a region to a very large extent so I think it is time for us to expand the hospital to be able to attend to patients from other areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said though the hospital administration is working with the limited resources government provides, the hospital still needs a face-lift to attend to the growing population.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince I took office, I have inspected an uncompleted project which is already under construction.
