President Mahama has said Ghana’s development has not stalled despite the economic challenges the country is experiencing.

Speaking after inspecting a road in Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region, President Mahama said “we are constructing roads , we are extending electricity, we are provding people with clean drinking water, we are building bridges, we are extending the ports, Ghana is growing, we are not going back.”

Government has come under criticism for failing to tackle the rising cost of living, the budget deficit and the depreciation of the Cedi.

“We are going to overcome the economic challenges. We have a presidential advisory group on the economy. That is my think tank that is working with me to turn this economic challenge around. The cedi will stabilize, inflation will come down and Ghana will become the shining black star of Africa.”

President Mahama further announced plans of constructing a 75 kilometre road for residents in the region.

“After the 20 kilometre road project is done, we are going to award another 75 kilometers of roads , that will be phase two and after phase two, we will award another 25 kilometers,” he stated.
