{"id":436,"date":"2014-02-16T18:58:49","date_gmt":"2014-02-16T18:58:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citi.hatuasolutions.com\/?p=436"},"modified":"2014-02-16T18:58:49","modified_gmt":"2014-02-16T18:58:49","slug":"do-turn-away-nhis-subscribers-ghs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/02\/do-turn-away-nhis-subscribers-ghs\/","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t turn away NHIS subscribers \u2013 GHS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citi.hatuasolutions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/LA-General-Hospital.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-437\" alt=\"Patients\" src=\"http:\/\/citi.hatuasolutions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/LA-General-Hospital-300x201.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a>The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has cautioned health facilities in the country against turning away patients who are subscribers of the National Health Insurance Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Some health facilities are reportedly turning away patients who are subscribers of the NHIS because of the indebtedness of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to their facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The Director-General of the GHS, Dr. Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira, in an interview with <b>Citi News<\/b> pointed out that that since government has been paying the salaries of health officials, it is imperative for patients to be attended to.<\/p>\n<p>He therefore cautioned that when patients come to health facilities for medical care, they should not be turned away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the person comes to you, don\u2019t turn him or her away.
