<\/a>The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has cautioned health facilities in the country against turning away patients who are subscribers of the National Health Insurance Scheme.<\/p>\nSome health facilities are reportedly turning away patients who are subscribers of the NHIS because of the indebtedness of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to their facilities.<\/p>\n
The Director-General of the GHS, Dr. Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira, in an interview with Citi News<\/b> pointed out that that since government has been paying the salaries of health officials, it is imperative for patients to be attended to.<\/p>\n
He therefore cautioned that when patients come to health facilities for medical care, they should not be turned away.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf the person comes to you, don\u2019t turn him or her away. At least our component for which government is giving you through your salaries, you should try to do what you can,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The NHIA has also urged all medical facilities to promptly submit their claims from fast payment to avert causing its subscribers from being refused healthcare.<\/p>\n
