{"id":43170,"date":"2014-08-30T13:23:13","date_gmt":"2014-08-30T13:23:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=43170"},"modified":"2014-08-31T09:34:19","modified_gmt":"2014-08-31T09:34:19","slug":"2012-election-the-fairest-in-ghanas-history-felix-kwakye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/08\/2012-election-the-fairest-in-ghanas-history-felix-kwakye\/","title":{"rendered":"2012 election the fairest in Ghana&#8217;s history- Felix Kwakye"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Deputy Minister of Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has described the 2012 general elections as the fairest in the history of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said history shows that Ghana consistently records various irregularities in its elections, but the 2012 general elections was an exception.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c2012 election was the most fairest, cleanest, safest and violent free election,\u201d Ofosu Kwakye opined.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said there were no reported cases of snatching of ballot boxes or intimidation of voters by macho men.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The New Patriotic Party (NPP), after \u00a0Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan declared President John Dramani Mahama as winner of the 2012 presidential election, challenged the authenticity of the results in an eight-month legal battle in the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although the NPP believed there were irregularities in the \u00a0election, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said it was due to administrative mistakes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The verdict by the Supreme Court subsequently went in favour of President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC but most NPP functionaries and party members have expressed their dissatisfaction over the verdict, one year after the verdict.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking on Joy Fms News File on Saturday, Mr. \u00a0Felix Ofosu Kwakye said the voters could not be punished over mistakes of polling officials.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe EC cannot punish the over five million (5 million) voters because a presiding member did not sign a pink sheet,\u201d he intimated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful who was also on the programme called on the EC and its stakeholders to properly explain the meaning of the \u201cno verification no vote\u201d slogan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Deputy Minister of Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has described the 2012 general elections as the fairest in the history of Ghana.
