Eleven women suspected to be transacting business in fake currencies have been arrest at the\u00a0Sampa\u00a0 Market in the Jaman North District of the Brong Ahafo Region.<\/p>\n
The suspects are, Mamuna\u00a0Asamoah,\u00a0Gifty Amoako,\u00a0Diana Kyerewaa, Akosua Janet, and Esther Agyeiwaa.<\/p>\n
The rest are Naomi Owusu, Efua Amissah, Janet Owusu,\u00a0Esi Ampiah, Joyce Amoako and\u00a0Celestine Amedume.<\/p>\n
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), who told this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani,<\/p>\n
He said on Monday, July 28, the suspects went to the Sampa Market with fake GHC20 denominations to purchase goods.<\/p>\n
However, some of the traders who were alert detected that the denominations were fake and reported the matter to the police.<\/p>\n
ASP Tawiah said some police personnel, consequently, were detailed to the market and arrested the suspects.<\/p>\n
About GH\u00a21,140 suspected to be fake were retrieved from them, he said.
\nHe said the suspects during interrogation admitted the offence and were charged with possessing fake currency without authority.<\/p>\n
ASP Tawiah said they had been granted police enquiry bail.<\/p>\n
