{"id":42697,"date":"2014-08-28T14:29:55","date_gmt":"2014-08-28T14:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=42697"},"modified":"2014-08-28T14:29:55","modified_gmt":"2014-08-28T14:29:55","slug":"abantu-to-celebrate-10th-anniversary-of-womens-manifesto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/08\/abantu-to-celebrate-10th-anniversary-of-womens-manifesto\/","title":{"rendered":"ABANTU to celebrate 10th anniversary of women\u2019s manifesto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">The Women\u2019s Manifesto Coalition (WMC), hosted by ABANTU for Development, is celebrating 10 years of the launch of the\u00a0Women\u2019s Manifesto for Ghana in September.<\/p>\n<p>The main event for the celebration would be held at the Ghana International Press Centre on September 2, 2014 at 10:00am.<\/p>\n<p>The Manifesto was launched in September 2004 after a year of consultation with CSOs, District Assemblywomen, media women and men, representatives of political parties, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and parliament from all ten regions of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Manifesto therefore addresses issues such as the low representation of women in governance, the inadequate access of women to resources, the predominance of women among people living in high poverty and the high rates of maternal mortality among other issues of critical concern to women\u2019s well being.<\/p>\n<p>BloggingGhana\u2019s STAR-Ghana funded the programme and informghana, is collaborating with ABANTU and the Women\u2019s Manifesto Coalition to mark the tenth anniversary celebration.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership will include publicity and coverage of the issues in the Manifesto and related events marking the anniversary celebration on social media. Additionally, a Google hangouts discussion on the issues, successes and challenges of the Manifesto will be held,<\/p>\n<p>To stay updated on the Manifesto and its celebration, follow ABANTU (@abantufordev) and informGhana (@informGhana) on twitter and ABANTU for Development on facebook.<\/p>\n<p>ABANTU for Development is a gender rights and policy advocacy Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) focusing on gender and governance, gender and climate change and gender and peace building.<\/p>\n<p>These areas of work are undertaken through advocacy, public awareness and networking; training and capacity building as well as research, publication and information.
