{"id":414039,"date":"2018-03-28T15:06:18","date_gmt":"2018-03-28T15:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=414039"},"modified":"2018-03-28T16:05:32","modified_gmt":"2018-03-28T16:05:32","slug":"knust-africa-hall-begins-probe-into-ghc150000-sponsorship-scandal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/03\/knust-africa-hall-begins-probe-into-ghc150000-sponsorship-scandal\/","title":{"rendered":"KNUST: Africa Hall begins probe into GHc150,000 sponsorship scandal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The management of the Africa Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has launched investigations into the alleged criminal misconduct of two executives of the hall.<\/p>\n<p>The two; President of the hall, Winfred Abotsi and the General Secretary, Eunice Adjetey, have also been asked to step aside while the investigations continue.<\/p>\n<p>The executives are said to have withheld monies meant for the acquisition of ceiling fans to about 192 rooms and some projects for the hall.<\/p>\n<p>The GHc150,000 was given as sponsorship by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to assist the hall in its 50th-anniversary celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Both management and executives of the hall put in the request to secure the sponsorship from the GNPC for the provision of projects and fans for the hall.<\/p>\n<p>The two executives are alleged to have later gone for the cheque from the GNPC and deposited it into a bank account created in the name of the hall.<\/p>\n<p>Management of the hall later became aware of these actions and asked them to step aside for investigations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong> sighted a letter directing the two to step aside signed by the hall warden.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-414064\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Africa-Hall-scandal-2-805x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"789\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Africa-Hall-scandal-2.jpg 805w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Africa-Hall-scandal-2-236x300.jpg 236w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Africa-Hall-scandal-2-768x977.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The University Relations Officer, Kwabena Yeboah said to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> authorities will quicken the investigations to get to the bottom of the matter.<\/p>\n<p>He also denied reports that the sponsorship package from the GNPC was to be used for a beauty pageant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong> understands that Eunice Adjetey, who wants to contest for president of the Hall, has been refused vetting on two occasions on grounds of the alleged\u00a0criminal misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>Winifred Abotsi has already declared her intentions to run for the position of SRC president in KNUST later this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Hafiz Tijani\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The management of the Africa Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has launched investigations into the alleged criminal misconduct of two executives of the hall.
