George Kyei Baffour, a local government analyst says the reinstatement of the Ahafo-Ano South District Chief Executive (DCE), will enhance good governance.

“…if the President has gone back after having been fed with the accurate information, I believe that it is in the right direction,” he said.

During a hospital function in the district, an unknown person made an unpleasant comment about Gabriel Barima, who was scheduled to address the participants at the event.

He dared the unknown person who questioned his authority to own up after which he angrily stormed out of the premises.

A video recording of his actions went viral on social media which increased calls for his dismissal.

The DCE apologized for his behaviour but was subsequently removed from office for being unrepentant after claiming in a private conversation that he had become more popular for using the word “tweaa.”

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia appealed to the President to reverse the decision describing his dismissal as unfair.

Months after his dismissal, Barima confirmed to Citi News on Friday that he had been re-instated.

Kyei Baffour on Eyewitness News said the termination of his appointment was in the first place unnecessary since he apologized to the chiefs and people present at the ceremony.

According to him, Barima was unfairly dealt with by the government “and it was against the rights of the person and it also undermined the desire of Ghanaians to offer themselves to serve their country.”

Speaking on the positives of his re-instatement, the local government analyst noted that it will enhance good governance, decentralization, strengthen the confidence of local government representatives “who are prepared to offer services to this country and also those who are prepared to render apology when they are at fault.”

“He needed not to be punished,” he stressed.

In a related development, a former Member of Parliament for the Ahafo-Ano South Constituency, Balado Manu on his part said Barima in his opinion did no wrong and his dismissal was unwarranted.

“I didn’t find anything wrong with what the man did because I knew the background to the whole thing,” he claimed.

Balado Manu was of the opinion that his reappointment is “a good idea…because I didn’t like the idea that the district was without a DCE…So I am glad he has been re-nominated…and I plead that he will be confirmed.”
