{"id":412018,"date":"2018-03-23T06:00:08","date_gmt":"2018-03-23T06:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=412018"},"modified":"2018-03-22T18:18:57","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T18:18:57","slug":"immigration-service-gets-55-vehicles-motorbikes-from-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/03\/immigration-service-gets-55-vehicles-motorbikes-from-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"Immigration Service gets 55 vehicles, motorbikes from Gov&#8217;t"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has taken delivery of 35 vehicles and 20 motorcycles to enhance its operations.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicles, which included 10 Toyota Hilux Pick-Ups, 25 Honda four-wheel All-Terrain-Vehicles (ATV) and 20 Honda motorcycles, were made available by the Government of Ghana as part of efforts to equip the Service with the necessary logistics to help it combat cross-border crimes and irregular migration.<\/p>\n<p>The provision of these vehicles fits into the Service\u2019s vision of restructuring, revamping and retooling its Border Patrol Unit to effectively patrol the borders of the country and ensure their security.<\/p>\n<p>Receiving the keys to the vehicles and motorcycles, the Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration in-charge of Operations and Command Post (DCG\/OPs &amp; CP), Mr. Laud Affrifah, indicated that they would be distributed to the various border posts of the Service to intensify surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the vehicles and motorcycles would significantly contribute to the fight against illegal entries and cross-border crimes.<\/p>\n<p>He reminded border patrol personnel who would be using the vehicles to take good care of them and ensure their regular servicing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlready, Management of the Service has directed all Commands to strengthen security checks at the borders and ensure due diligence,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>He added\u00a0that \u201cif we are able to effectively deter and prevent miscreants and other illegitimate migrants from entering the country, the nation\u2019s crime issues would be more than half resolved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<br \/>\nBy: citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has taken delivery of 35 vehicles and 20 motorcycles to enhance its operations.
