Lawyer for Eric Amoateng, Charles Pouzing has dismissed claims that the former Director of Passport , Eric Odoi Anim was involved in a forged passport saga.<\/p>\n
Mr. Anim was picked up by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) \u00a0to help with investigations into the forged passport issue.<\/p>\n
Mr. Amoateng arrived in the country recently, after serving a 10-year jail term in the US for illegal drug trafficking.<\/p>\n
He was subsequently arrested by the Ghana Police at the Kotoka Airport for allegedly possessing a fake passport. Checks by authorities indicated the passport belonged\u00a0to a woman.<\/p>\n
But speaking to Citi News<\/b>, the ex-convict\u2019s lawyer, Charles Pouzing said Mr. Anim\u2019s arrest cannot be linked to the offence for which Mr. Amoateng has been charged until the Court finally provides evidence that he was.<\/p>\n
“It will be difficult for anyone to know whether there is a link between the Director \u2018s duty as a Passport officer and Eric Amoateng\u2019s possession of the passport which they say has been forged until August 26,2014”<\/p>\n
He further stated that it is the state that will decide on the nature of the charges that will be preferred against the former passport officer if found guilty.<\/p>\n
