{"id":40996,"date":"2014-08-21T12:31:58","date_gmt":"2014-08-21T12:31:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=40996"},"modified":"2014-08-21T17:33:09","modified_gmt":"2014-08-21T17:33:09","slug":"potag-unhappy-over-court-delay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/08\/potag-unhappy-over-court-delay\/","title":{"rendered":"POTAG unhappy over court &#8220;delay&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) has expressed its displeasure over the delay of their case in court concerning the book and research allowances.<\/p>\n<p>The court adjourned the case, brought against POTAG by the National Labour Commission (NLC), to Thursday, August 28.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the Cape Coast Polytechnic branch of POTAG, Isaac Aggrey- Fynn, told Citi News that the court decision to adjourn proceedings was \u201cunfortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whole matter has been delayed and\u00a0 it is a worry to us and to the students,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>The SRC leader of Kumasi Polytechnic, Benjamin Kodjo Sakyi on the <b>Citi Breakfast Show<\/b> described the strike as \u201cunfortunate\u201d, adding that students have been battling with academic challenges since their lecturers embarked on a strike.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr. Aggrey-Fynn called on the Student Representative Councils of the various polytechnics to put\u00a0 pressure on the government to meet POTAG\u2019s demands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey should pour all their anger and frustration on government to solve the issues once and for all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They should draw the public\u2019s attention for the government to see the need to comply with something that is legitimate to the lecturers<\/p>\n<p>Polytechnic teachers all around the country have been on strike since May over the government\u2019s decision to scrap the payment of Book and research allowances.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Edwin Kwakofi\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<b><i><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) has expressed its displeasure over the delay of their case in court concerning the book and research allowances.
