{"id":408340,"date":"2018-03-09T13:49:04","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T13:49:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=408340"},"modified":"2018-03-09T14:02:57","modified_gmt":"2018-03-09T14:02:57","slug":"national-security-minister-must-present-annual-report-minority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/03\/national-security-minister-must-present-annual-report-minority\/","title":{"rendered":"National Security Minister must present annual report &#8211; Minority"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minority in Parliament wants the National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, to be compelled to present his annual report to the House.<\/p>\n<p>This, the Minority MPs say will be in line with requirements of the Securities and Intelligence Agencies Act.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, said successive governments have violated the Act.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Ablakwa quoted the\u00a0Securities and intelligence Agencies Act saying, &#8220;the President shall assign ministerial responsibility to the intelligence agencies to such Minister as the President shall consider appropriate. The minister assigned responsibility shall in respect of each year submit a report to Parliament on the intelligence agencies.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_408369\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-408369\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-408369\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Albert-Kan-Dapaah.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Albert-Kan-Dapaah.jpg 800w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Albert-Kan-Dapaah-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Albert-Kan-Dapaah-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-408369\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mr. Ablakwa also said that the report was more critical now than before, considering the current security challenges facing the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since I have been in this House, I don\u2019t recall ever seeing a report from the Minister responsible for the National Security Council and this is a time that as a House, we are all discussing how we can help in the fight against armed robbery and all of that. Such a report will be very useful to this House as we deliberate to see what support our intelligence agencies require.
