{"id":408311,"date":"2018-03-09T15:30:22","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T15:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=408311"},"modified":"2018-03-09T14:56:23","modified_gmt":"2018-03-09T14:56:23","slug":"sanitation-ministry-trains-health-prosecutors-launches-revised-manual","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/03\/sanitation-ministry-trains-health-prosecutors-launches-revised-manual\/","title":{"rendered":"Sanitation Ministry trains health prosecutors; launches revised manual"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources has brought together Environmental Health Prosecutors in the northern part of the country at a workshop for training on the effective and professional ways of prosecuting sanitation offenders<\/p>\n<p>The event was also to launch an Environmental Health Prosecution manual which was first published in 2002 and revised in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Patrick Yaw Boamah told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that the revised Environmental Health Prosecutions manual will help reduce the time and costs usually expended on prosecuting sanitation offenders.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-408322\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-8.jpg 800w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-8-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-8-768x431.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The revised Environmental health prosecutions manual will eventually lead to a reduction in time and cost of prosecuting sanitation offenders in this country. It has become necessary to intensify our education efforts on sanitation and thereby get everyone&#8217;s support in ensuring that our cities are clean and safe for us. Sanitation is a shared responsibility and we expect that everyone plays his or her role.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-408321\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-7.jpg 800w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-7-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-7-768x431.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He, however, bemoaned the poor attitudes of the public towards sanitation describing it as the biggest challenge facing the country in its quest for proper sanitation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-408320\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-6.jpg 800w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-6-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Northern-Sanitation-Prosecutors-6-768x431.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The poor state of sanitation in the country poses a challenge in achieving the National Health Insurance Scheme and the Sustainable Development Goals.\u00a0\u00a0 The poor attitudes of people are responsible for the top ten Out Patients Department cases in the hospitals leading to the country spending so much money on diseases that could be prevented.
