{"id":407181,"date":"2018-03-07T06:05:38","date_gmt":"2018-03-07T06:05:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=407181"},"modified":"2018-03-07T12:16:05","modified_gmt":"2018-03-07T12:16:05","slug":"one-arrested-asante-mampong-fuel-station-robbery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/03\/one-arrested-asante-mampong-fuel-station-robbery\/","title":{"rendered":"One arrested over Asante-Mampong fuel station robbery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The police in Asante-Mampong have arrested and detained one person in connection with the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/03\/03\/robbers-attack-fuel-station-at-asante-mampong-steal-ghc12-000\/\"><strong>robbery attack<\/strong><\/a><\/span> on the Total Fuel Station at Bosofour.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) James Nyadedjur, the Mampong Divisional Commander, confirmed this to journalists but would not give the name of the suspect, citing security reasons.<\/p>\n<p>He would also not provide any other details except to say that the man was assisting in their investigations.<\/p>\n<p>Gun-wielding robbers, numbering four, had raided the fuel station on Friday, March 02, and amid firing of gunshots made away with an unspecified amount of money.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;6olWoYR5ZZKgWBIlM0z8PhF0YR5zJKA8&#8243;]They seized mobile phones of the attendants and were reported to have struck at about 1830 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst escaping with their booty, they also attacked a mobile money vendor and forcibly took everything she had on her.<\/p>\n<p>The Police had earlier said the robbers made away with a total of GHc12,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn 02\/03\/18 at 1845hrs,four suspected armed robbers with three wielding short guns and one holding a stick attacked the above station (.) They first escorted the mobile money woman into her office and took all her money amounting to about 3000 Ghana cedis. They asked of the manager and she pointed at him and he was escorted into the strong room and ordered to open the safe and an amount of about 9000gh was collected,\u201d a statement from the police said.<\/p>\n<p>Although the police said they were called on time to the scene the robbers managed to escape arrest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA police patrol had information and rushed to the scene and spotted one of the robbers who positioned himself by the roadside. He immediately fired three shots at the police and wanted to re-load the gun and police returned fire but he managed to run away and joined a waiting taxi cab and fled. The other accomplices also escaped through a bush behind the filling station.
