{"id":406622,"date":"2018-03-05T16:27:14","date_gmt":"2018-03-05T16:27:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=406622"},"modified":"2018-03-05T16:33:28","modified_gmt":"2018-03-05T16:33:28","slug":"fake-news-police-warns-of-false-robbery-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/03\/fake-news-police-warns-of-false-robbery-reports\/","title":{"rendered":"Fake news: Police warns of false robbery reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Police Administration has urged the public not to succumb to fake news reports of robberies and other crimes on social media.<\/p>\n<p>The Police in a statement said it had taken note of fake news reports of criminal activity over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;JQbE8soQ6hI33cUYaDlCh0Ky1T0KugB3&#8243;]It believes such fake news reports\u00a0are intended to cause fear and panic by devious persons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Police Administration has monitored a number of fake news of criminal incidents particularly false news of robbery attacks on social media, which are believed to be calculated attempts by unscrupulous persons to cause fear and alarm to the public and to disturb the public peace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;An example of such false publication is the news that there were robbery attacks on certain banks in Accra.
