The police say they have intensified patrols in \u201crobbery prone areas\u201d of the country following a high rise in the number of robbery cases recorded in recent times.<\/p>\n

While calling for calm, the police in a statement signed by the Director-General of Police Public Affairs, ACP David Eklu, said they are on the heels of the criminals perpetrating such heinous crimes.<\/p>\n

The statement also said a number of arrests have been made in relation to recent robberies cases.<\/p>\n

Nine people have so far been arrested in connection with the Forex Bureau and Money transfer robberies in Accra. In addition, two people are in custody in respect of the industrial area robbery that occurred at Kaneshie this morning and area assisting the police in their investigations,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

The police said they are also discussing with the Bank of Ghana in a bid to identify better ways of enhancing security for mobile money and Forex Bureax operators in the country.<\/p>\n

Robbery cases on the rise<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two separate day light robbery cases were recorded in Accra on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, one in North Kaneshie and the other one at Royal Motors in Accra.<\/p>\n

In the case of Royal Motors, the robbers stormed the premises of the automobile company and made away with huge sums of money believed to be the company\u2019s sales for the day.<\/p>\n

Some residents of Oyibi and surrounding areas<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in Accra have lamented about increased robbery attacks in those areas.<\/p>\n

Some nine robbers<\/strong><\/a><\/span> according to the police have been arrested for attacking some 20 forex bureaux in the Spintex road.<\/p>\n

The police also said two persons have been arrested<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in connection with the North Kaneshie robbery.<\/p>\n
