After\u00a0<em>Wonder Woman<\/em>\u00a0was universally praised, the expectation was that\u00a0<em>Justice League\u00a0<\/em>could continue to send the DC movie universe in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>The movie was instead plagued by a Frankenstein edit, production drama and tragedy, and continues to be a major topic of conversation. The studio has a yearlong wait between that and their next film, that being James Wan\u2019s\u00a0<em>Aquaman<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike most of the previous DC productions,\u00a0<em>Aquaman<\/em>\u00a0has continued on without much worry.\u00a0For many moviegoers, Jason Momoa\u2019s portrayal of Arthur Curry was one of the highlights of\u00a0<em>Justice League<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>That should give\u00a0<em>Aquaman<\/em>\u00a0a decent starting base when it comes to attracting audiences, but so far the general public is\u00a0still waiting on the trailer.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s been footage to debut at cons already, and now a select few have seen a version of the movie.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-even\"><\/div>\n<p>Warner Bros. held a very early test screening today for\u00a0<em>Aquaman<\/em>\u00a0on their studio lot, and while those in attendance are not allowed to publicly reveal their thoughts, third-parties can.\u00a0<em>Batman-News<\/em>\u00a0shared some of the early reactions they\u2019ve received, with both individuals noting an action-heavy and emotional film.<\/p>\n<p>While the details aren\u2019t great, the general reaction most definitely is. WB is very much in need of another win when it comes to their DC lineup, so any early positive buzz is good news.<\/p>\n<p>Hearing that it is action-heavy falls in line with what\u00a0some actors involved have described,\u00a0such as Yahya Abdul-Matteen II as Black Manta.<\/p>\n<p>The emotional part is where\u00a0<em>Aquaman<\/em>\u00a0could help separate itself from being another middle-of-the-road comic book movie.<\/p>\n<p>The best ones typically have some dramatic weight to them, and\u00a0having an emotional story should help accomplish just that.<\/p>\n<p>This is however a very early version of whatever\u00a0<em>Aquaman<\/em>\u00a0will be when it hits theaters in December. Principal photography\u00a0wrapped in October\u00a0of last year, so planned reshoots are surely still to come.<\/p>\n<p>The feedback from today\u2019s test screenings could go a long way in determining what to change, but also what not to.<\/p>\n<p>That said, test screening reactions are not always the best way to gauge if a movie is actually going to be good. Over six months before it hit theaters,\u00a0<em>Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice<\/em>\u00a0infamously\u00a0received a standing ovation\u00a0during WB\u2019s executive early screening.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally,\u00a0<em>Suicide Squad<\/em>\u2018s early fan screening reactions\u00a0were very positive, while\u00a0<em>Justice League<\/em>\u00a0also reportedly\u00a0received positive reactions.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of\u00a0<em>Aquaman<\/em>, a quiet production featuring great talent is enough of a reason to be excited, so these reactions are a nice reminder of that if nothing else.
