{"id":402711,"date":"2018-02-20T05:20:43","date_gmt":"2018-02-20T05:20:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=402711"},"modified":"2018-02-20T05:18:11","modified_gmt":"2018-02-20T05:18:11","slug":"karpower-relocates-vessel-takoradi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/karpower-relocates-vessel-takoradi\/","title":{"rendered":"Karpower relocates vessel to Takoradi\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Karpowership Ghana Company Limited has confirmed to\u00a0<strong>Citi Business News<\/strong>\u00a0plans to relocate its floating power plant from Tema to Takoradi.<\/p>\n<p>The Company further highlights its intentions to do so by the end of the second quarter of this year.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the relocation, the company has held various stakeholder meetings to sensitize stakeholders in the areas about the operations of Karpowership and its contribution to communities.<\/p>\n<p>Residents of Tema Newtown\u00a0and its surrounding communities had earlier called on government to\u00a0relo\u00adcate the Karpowership, as smoke emanating from the power ship was severely polluting their environment.<\/p>\n<p>But in an interview with\u00a0<strong>Citi Business News,<\/strong>\u00a0Corporate Communications Specialist at Karpower, Sandra Amarquaye said the relocation is part of government\u2019s plans to ensure full utilization of gas resources from the Western Enclave.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u201cKarpowership will deploy its 470MW Karadeniz Powership Osman Khan to the Sekondi Naval Base by the second half of this year. This is in line with government&#8217;s plans to ensure full utilization of gas resources from the Western enclave of Ghana. The engagement is to ensure our new stakeholders understand our business and how we operate.
