Especially if he is allowed adopt the method that he gave as using it to appoint people he will work with,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-401067\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Amidu-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"708\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Amidu-2.jpg 640w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Amidu-2-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 708px) 100vw, 708px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Martin Amidu on Tuesday faced Parliament&#8217;s Appointments Committee in what could probably be the longest ever vetting session in the 4th Republic.<\/p>\n<p>He responded to various questions from all members of the committee in the over 7-hour long session.<\/p>\n<p>Many social media commentaries suggested that Martin Amidu will be approved following his performance at the committee sitting, even as the Committee is yet to officially prepare its report.<\/p>\n<p>The nominee himself has said that he believes he has nothing to lose whether or not he is approved to serve in the capacity as Special Prosecutor, despite massive endorsements from many Ghanaians including former President Jerry John Rawlings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pending lawsuit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Martin Amidu&#8217;s confirmation will now hang in a balance as a former Deputy Attorney General and Member of Parliament, Dominic Ayine, has filed a<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/12\/amidu-too-old-to-serve-ayine-sues-at-supreme-court\/\"> lawsuit <\/a><\/strong>challenging nomination.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawsuit, Martin Amidu, 66, has breached the age requirement for public officers who serve in such an office.<\/p>\n<p>A win for Dominic Ayine in the Supreme Court will render null and void Parliament&#8217;s approval of Martin Amidu.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Jonas Nyabor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anti-corruption crusader, Vitus Azeem, believes the Special Prosecutor nominee, Martin Amidu, distinguished himself at his public vetting on Tuesday.
