{"id":400122,"date":"2018-02-09T17:16:41","date_gmt":"2018-02-09T17:16:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=400122"},"modified":"2018-02-11T07:01:15","modified_gmt":"2018-02-11T07:01:15","slug":"minority-mps-shocked-death-talented-amazing-ebony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/minority-mps-shocked-death-talented-amazing-ebony\/","title":{"rendered":"Minority MPs shocked at death of &#8216;talented, amazing&#8217; Ebony"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minority in Parliament has expressed shock at the demise of Dancehall artiste, Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng, popularly known as Ebony Reigns.<\/p>\n<p>The starlet was returning to Accra from Sunyani after visiting her mother who had just returned from the UK, when the Jeep she was travelling in crashed into a VIP bus on Thursday evening, according to the police.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;lC6fjNHNjkrMuMmj8LRRXYZs4AgI82Nq&#8221;]Ebony was travelling with three other people, two of whom have also been confirmed dead.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Jeep survived the crash, but most recent reports indicate that he is still receiving\u00a0treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the leader of the Minority, Haruna Iddrisu, eulogized the 20-year-old songstress, stating that, she was a talented young woman who had contributed a lot to the Ghanaian music industry.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed the Minority&#8217;s condolences to the families of Ebony and the two others who perished in the accident at Mankranso in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would like to express our shock and sadness at the sudden demise of the exceptionally talented and amazing young Ghanaian musician, Ebony, Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng. Our deepest condolences to her family, her fans and the entire nation,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A promising, enterprising musician is gone. Ghana is going to find it tough to find someone like this pretty queen,\u201d he said to\u00a0<strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u2018 Kwame Dadzie.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Poku recalled his support for Ebony\u2019s music career despite the criticism that came her way for her salacious persona and fashion sense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have always supported this queen, that was her talent. She had nothing to lose. I supported her all the time. I have always supported my queen\u2026 she had it all. Honestly, she did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-400009\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ebonyy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ebonyy.jpg 620w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ebonyy-300x196.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tributes pour in from top politicians<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Nana Akufo-Addo, former President John Mahama and Vice President Bawumia,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/09\/nana-addo-mahama-lead-tributes-ebony-reigns\/\"><strong>were among<\/strong><\/a><\/span> hundreds of Ghanaians who\u00a0paid tribute to the artiste after news of her demise broke on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>A number of people took to social media to express their condolences to Ebony\u2019s family and eulogize the artiste. Because two years ago Ebony was in the unsung category VGMAs which means an Artiste who is now upcoming. A year down she is in the artiste of the year category and it\u2019s actually being rumoured that she is a possible winner of that category. And I don\u2019t doubt that at all,\u201d he said in an interview on the\u00a0<strong>Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>\u00a0on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that Ebony\u2019s contribution to the Ghana music industry has been tremendous considering her small beginnings about two years ago.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Ebony<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ebony\u2019s passing comes on the\u00a0back of a stellar 2017 where she rose to superstardom in Ghanaian popular culture.<\/p>\n<p>The singer was discovered by renowned\u00a0music\u00a0entrepreneur Bullet of\u00a0Ruff n Smooth\u00a0fame in 2015, when she sent in a demo.
