Find story here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>)<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\nSpeaking to Citi News<\/b>, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Kwame Dattey said the students should be handed over to the University the school is affiliated to -University of Cape Coast or any other institution to forestall any mishap the closure will have on students.<\/p>\n
Mr. Dattey also expressed shock at the school\u2019s decision, saying the school was only re-accredited last year based on its sound financial standing.<\/p>\n
\u201cFinancial Sustainability is one of the things we look at when an institution applies for accreditation and they presented everything to show that they are financially sustainable so they will have to meet arrangements to have the students transferred to either their affliated institution or other accredited institutions,\u201d he said<\/p>\n
The Meridian University College is not the first to take a decision to close down due to financial challenges.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Twin-City Special School and the Sekondi School for the Deaf,both in the Western Region, and the Akuapem Mampong Demonstration School for the Deaf in the Eastern Region stated its decision to close down in February due to government’s failure to release feeding grants to them.<\/p>\n
