{"id":399899,"date":"2018-02-09T06:22:21","date_gmt":"2018-02-09T06:22:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=399899"},"modified":"2018-02-09T09:28:22","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T09:28:22","slug":"dancehall-diva-ebony-dead-in-car-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/dancehall-diva-ebony-dead-in-car-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"Dancehall diva Ebony dead in car crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twenty-year-old Dancehall star, Ebony Reigns, has been confirmed dead in a car crash at Mankranso in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n<p>Ebony, real name Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, was returning from Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region when the Jeep she was travelling in crashed into a VIP bus on Thursday evening, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Ebony was travelling with three other people, and two of them have also been confirmed dead. The two include a young lady, Ebony&#8217;s assistant, and a man in military uniform believed to be a soldier.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Jeep survived the crash, but is currently unconscious and receiving\u00a0treatment, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>The Divisional Commander of Mankranso, DSP John Adusei, confirmed the accident to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> narrating that Ebony was on her way from Sunyani where, &#8220;at the intersection of the road between the Nsuta and Bechem junction, [her car] collided with a VIP bus which was also coming from Kumasi towards the Sunyani direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8230;so three of them passed on. Now the bodies are at Mankranso. We have a morgue here so we have deposited the bodies over here,&#8221;\u00a0DSP John Adusei added.<\/p>\n<p>No causalities have been recorded from the VIP bus.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-399920\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Ebony-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Ebony-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Ebony-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Ebony-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Ebony.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ebony\u2019s passing comes on the\u00a0back of a stellar 2017 where she rose to superstardom in Ghanaian popular culture.<\/p>\n<p>The singer was discovered by renowned\u00a0music\u00a0entrepreneur Bullet of\u00a0Ruff n Smooth\u00a0fame in 2015, when she sent in a demo.
