<\/p>\nMining, construction and materials technology company,\u00a0Sandvik Gh Ltd, has completed the installation of an automated loading system for Newmont Gold Ghana Limited.<\/p>\n
The company said that unlike the AutoMine\u2122\u00a0Tele-Remote system which was in place before it, the\u00a0\u201cAutoMine\u2122\u00a0Lite is an automation system for loaders\u00a0and is a more advanced alternative.\u201d<\/p>\n
The AutoMine Lite System is operated with two loaders, usually referred to as Load-Haul-Dumps (LHDs), purchased by African Underground Mining Services (AUMS) for the Newmont, Subika Underground Project, which is the first in the West Africa Sales Area of the Company.<\/p>\n
The system project has generated a lot of buzz and garnered positive reviews in the mining sector with the expectation that it will greatly improve efficiency and productivity in the sector.<\/p>\n
The AutoMine\u2122\u00a0Lite features the MineLAN Communication Network which serves as a communication link between the Access Control\u00a0System and the Semi-automated Loader.<\/p>\n

The machine will be operated from a remote control station which could either be located either on the\u00a0surface level or in a distant control room.<\/p>\n
The LHDs used with the AutoMine\u2122<\/b>\u00a0Lite System is aimed at addressing a number of concerns that have been raised in relation to the underground\u00a0mining industry.<\/p>\n
They also provide help address concerns regarding the Environment, Health and Safety including incidents such as rock\u00a0falls, exposure to high levels of dust, vibrations, toxic gases, and the numerous hazardous situations that could result from the use of machinery.<\/p>\n
The innovation and design of the intelligent LHDs ensure that the operators are able to\u00a0work effectively with the system in relative\u00a0comfort and safety from the remote control room.<\/p>\n
The AutoMine\u2122<\/b>\u00a0Lite also allows for the loading, tramming and dumping of the materials autonomously which wasn’t possible with the technology that existed prior to this innovation.<\/p>\n

This system has been incorporated with technology that ensures accurate navigation, reduced damage, and increased availability which all results in higher output and the preservation of the equipment.<\/p>\n
Operators are able to have an unobstructed and clear view of the machine in operation enabling them to identify long load points and culminates into higher bucket fill factor.<\/p>\n
The company’s engineers argue that the losses that are incurred from the inefficiency of the operators of the machines, mainly due to human fallibilities will be significantly reduced with this system.<\/p>\n
According to them the limitation of the involvement of humans in the operations will result in much\u00a0fewer expenses for the company.<\/p>\n
George Antwi, the Business Line Manager of Underground Drills & Loaders\u00a0for Sales for the company in West Africa emphasised the importance of the customers and their values to the company.<\/p>\n
He stated that Sanvik was committed to supporting its customers to remain productive and efficient in their operation by ensuring that they have the necessary logistics they need to be effective.<\/p>\n
