{"id":399061,"date":"2018-02-06T17:00:19","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T17:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=399061"},"modified":"2018-02-06T16:04:26","modified_gmt":"2018-02-06T16:04:26","slug":"ashanti-nsa-boss-cautioned-over-baba-yara-funeral-stadium-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/ashanti-nsa-boss-cautioned-over-baba-yara-funeral-stadium-comments\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashanti NSA boss cautioned over Baba Yara &#8216;funeral stadium&#8217; comments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Joshua Mensah, has been cautioned by the management of the National Sports Authority for pronouncements he made regarding the use of the Baba Yara Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u00a0Mensah told journalists in Kumasi last Tuesday that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium had been\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/sport.citifmonline.com\/2018\/01\/31\/no-more-football-on-saturdays-nsa-reserves-baba-yara-stadium-for-funerals\/\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">exclusively reserved<\/span>\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>for funerals and other social activities on Saturdays, to enable them\u00a0raise\u00a0funds to maintain the fast-deteriorating facility.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;2rXBmp2xJXn5SwT3OOPymbIbReeBUsyV&#8221;]But\u00a0<\/span>Mr.<span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0Mensah\u2019s remarks were\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/01\/sports-authority-makes-u-turn-use-baba-yara-funerals\/\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>shot down<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0by Director General of the NSA, Robert Sarfo Mensah, who told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that the RSDO\u2019s comments were mere emotional outbursts and that no such decision had been taken by the NSA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Days later,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/sport.citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/01\/sports-ministry-summons-kumasi-nsa-boss-over-funeral-stadium-comments\/\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>Joshua Mensah was summoned to Accr<\/strong><\/span>a<\/a><\/span>\u00a0to explain his comments.<\/p>\n<p>After an emergency management meeting at the Head Office of the NSA,\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Mensah was let off with a warning to desist from making further unauthorized statements.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the NSA, Madam Frederica Mensah-Davies,\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Mensah was also ordered to follow administrative procedures whenever he has suggestions and proposals that are meant for the development of sports in the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Read\u00a0full\u00a0statement below:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><u>PRESS RELEASE<\/u><\/em><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><u>RE: CLOSURE OF KUMASI SPORTS STADIUM FOR FUNERALS<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr Joshua Mensah has been cautioned by the Management of the National Sports Authority on pronouncements he made on Wednesday, January, 31<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a02018 on the usage of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The decision was taken at an emergency Management meeting at the Head Office in which the Regional Director was summoned to explain to Management in the presence of all the other Regional Directors as to why he made such unauthorized pronouncements.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Management agreed that he indeed erred and it was an administrative slip on his part and hence was cautioned in accordance with the NSA\u2019s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
