<\/p>\nSome alumni of the Unity Hall at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), say they will petition the Ministry of Education to halt a decision by the University’s management to convert all male halls into mixed residential accommodation.<\/p>\n
The Unity Hall, also known as Conti, along\u00a0with University Hall, also known as Katanga, are being converted to boost the female intake and meet international standards of gender balance, according to the school’s management.<\/p>\n
Some students, however believe that the management\u2019s decision to convert\u00a0the halls into mixed, is a strategy to curtail the long-standing feud between the two halls, which has been known to turn bloody in the past.<\/p>\n

The alumni of the two halls are however resisting the move, saying the reason given by the school is not good enough to collapse the tradition and heritage of the two male halls.<\/p>\n
A former Unity Hall President, George Tetteh Wayo, indicated their resolve to\u00a0Citi News<\/strong>,\u00a0saying the alumni will go every length to see that the decision is reversed.<\/p>\n “We\u2019ll put up a petition to the Education Minister because, definitely, it is that arm of government that looks into matters of education.
