{"id":397325,"date":"2018-02-01T17:44:08","date_gmt":"2018-02-01T17:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=397325"},"modified":"2018-02-01T17:44:08","modified_gmt":"2018-02-01T17:44:08","slug":"andre-ayew-must-repay-swans-faith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/andre-ayew-must-repay-swans-faith\/","title":{"rendered":"Andre Ayew: I must repay Swans\u2019 faith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Andre\u00a0Ayew is pledging to repay the faith shown in him by Swansea City by helping the club stay in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>Ayew has returned to the Liberty Stadium on a three-and-a-half-year contract after the Swans agreed a club-record deal with West Ham United.<\/p>\n<p>And the man who finished as top scorer in one his one previous season as a Swan is determined to ensure Carlos Carvalhal\u2019s team pull clear of relegation danger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very happy to be back,\u201d Ayew declared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThings have changed at the club, but the faces are still the same and I am happy to see everyone. Now I need to do the job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s important is that we keep the club up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe club have shown a lot of trust in me and a lot of determination to bring me in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow I need to give back to them on the field. My goal and my challenge is to do everything possible to help the club stay up \u2013 the same as it is for all the players and the staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what I am here for and I will do everything I can to make sure it happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Having climbed out of the Premier League relegation zone courtesy of Tuesday\u2019s sparkling win over Arsenal, the Swans dropped back into the bottom three after Stoke and Southampton picked up points on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>But Ayew has been encouraged by his new club\u2019s form since Carvalhal took charge at the end of December.<\/p>\n<p>In eight games under the Portuguese, the Swans have been beaten only once \u2013 and that was in contentious circumstances against Spurs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sport.citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/01\/andre-ayew-i-must-repay-swans-faith\/ayew-1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-79785\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-79785\" src=\"http:\/\/sport.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ayew-1-650x366.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sport.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ayew-1-650x366.jpg 650w, http:\/\/sport.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ayew-1-768x432.jpg 768w, http:\/\/sport.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ayew-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w\" alt=\"ayew-1\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe season is going to be long and there will be a lot of tough games,\u201d Ayew added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not going to be easy \u2013 everyone wants to stay up and when you look at the table, 20th place to ninth or 10th is very, very tight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut when you know the players who are here you know the quality they have.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes in football you can have some bad results, but I think we have the quality of players to play in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to stay at this level and we need to do everything possible to make sure we don\u2019t let the city down and we don\u2019t let the fans down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ayew had options to consider when it became apparent he could be leaving West Ham during the January transfer window, but he was always keen to return to Wales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a great moment at the club last time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a great feeling with my team-mates and a great relationship with the fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a few others to look at, but when the opportunity to come back to Swansea came up, I wanted to take it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt the fans wanted me back, the chairman wanted me back and the gaffer wanted me, so I am really pleased.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: Swanseacity.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Andre\u00a0Ayew is pledging to repay the faith shown in him by Swansea City by helping the club stay in the Premier League.
