The Centre for Peace and Reconciliation on over the weekend held its 3rd graduation ceremony and the launch of the centre’s activities.

In all over 50 students graduated in various disciplines including advanced certificate graduands (19) and foundation course graduands (34).

The event was graced by the Chief of Defense Staff, Lt. General Obed Akwa and a Supreme Court Judge Justice Jones Victor Dotse.

Speaking at the event, Justice Jones Victor Dotse urged the guaduands to be icons of change with the knowledge acquired from CPR.

""

“It is possible there will be an increase in the number of cases to be settled in the future and I believe the training you have acquired from CPR must lead you to make the impact first in the society, communities, churches and families. There are many marital cases which come to the court some bother only on resolutions of marital properties.”

“The courses been offered at CPR should find it way of been related to our national curricular in basic, secondary and tertiary institutions and above all I will urge the authorities especially churches and chiefs to encourage CPR in their various institutions. The institutions must partner with CPR to weave Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) into their systems.”

For his part, Executive Director, Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR), Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson revealed that influential people within various communities have passed through CPR to become better mediators.

""

“Today we are happy to witness our third graduation. Apart from other different training in the corporate world for the clergy, family institutions and traditional rulers almost close to 150 students have passed through this main stream of our programmes. It may interest you to know we have trained about 500 traditional rulers to know how to handle their community issues and also to moderate over issue that could have become something else.”

The Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR) was established in response to an increase of human psycho-emotional pain, stress and the increasing cost of intra and interpersonal conflicts. CPR with its lead professionals is one of the leading organizations in Ghana that offers professional counseling services, training and human development programmes for individuals and service providers, families and communities, churches and their leadership, some government institutions, department and their heads in Ghana and other countries in west Africa.

""

Counselors, traditional rulers, the judiciary, legal practitioners, as well as institutions such as the Volta River Authority and some government ministries have also benefitted from our services. We resolve family, domestic and corporate disputes, train leaders, provide resource materials, facilitate and design Counseling, Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) curricula for tertiary institutions and professional organizations.
