{"id":389375,"date":"2018-01-06T18:00:51","date_gmt":"2018-01-06T18:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=389375"},"modified":"2018-01-06T18:00:51","modified_gmt":"2018-01-06T18:00:51","slug":"pilot-property-tax-rate-implementation-tax-analyst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/01\/pilot-property-tax-rate-implementation-tax-analyst\/","title":{"rendered":"Pilot property tax rate before implementation\u2014Tax Analyst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A tax analyst has called on government to pilot the implementation and collection of the property rates in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>According to William Owusu Demitia, a Senior Associate\u00a0Consultant\u00a0at Ali-Nakyea &amp; Associates, this would help government identify key issues that has to be addressed before a nationwide implementation.<\/p>\n<p>As part of measures to improve domestic resource mobilization, the Finance Minister during the 2018 budget reading announced that\u00a0new tax reforms to be introduced by government this year will see an upward review of property rates as well as the intensification of its collection.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to\u00a0<strong>Citi Business News,<\/strong>\u00a0Mr Owusu Demitia said the implementation of the property rate is a step in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRenewed zeal for the collection of the property rate is welcome. Government should however take its time in implementing it.
