{"id":3878,"date":"2014-03-04T17:39:52","date_gmt":"2014-03-04T17:39:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=3878"},"modified":"2014-03-04T17:39:52","modified_gmt":"2014-03-04T17:39:52","slug":"air-traffic-controllers-call-off-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/03\/air-traffic-controllers-call-off-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Traffic controllers call off strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/air-traffic-controllers-training.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3889\" alt=\"air-traffic-controllers-training\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/air-traffic-controllers-training-300x168.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/air-traffic-controllers-training-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/air-traffic-controllers-training.jpg 495w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Citi News<\/strong> can confirm that the Ghana Air Traffic Controllers Association (GATCA) has called off the strike they embarked on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The seizure of the strike follows the intervention of the Minister of Transport, Dzifa Attivor who met with air traffic controllers to resolve issues for which they had embarked on the strike.<\/p>\n<p>The strike action had resulted in scores of travellers stranded at the Kotoka International Airport and other regional airports for about nine hours on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>GATCA had raised concerns of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority facing challenges in the restructuring of the Authority on global standards.<\/p>\n<p>They indicated\u00a0 Togo and Benin had challenges with managing \u00a0the upper airspaces of the three States and Ghana has not been able to attain FAA Category One.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the issue Dzifa Attivor indicated the team assigned to tackle the issue was still working on it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president sent me to Togo and Benin to deliver a letter to his colleague presidents and after that we had a meeting in Dakar, Office of the ICAO and a team was put together to resolve the impasse and I believe that is ongoing\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She indicated GATCA had also raised concerns of the absence of a deputy director general technical of the civil aviation authority.
