He is said to have used his brand and platform to raise funds to procure incubators to save dying babies in selected hospitals across the country.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, the overall journalist gets a three bedroom house from KOANS Building Solutions. Mr. Sefa Kayi also received a Kingsize mattress, a plaque and a certificate.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 35 journalists from television, radio, print and online media, are being recognized for their hard work in producing compelling stories in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi FM wins 6 GJA awards; anti-galamsey campaign recognized<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi FM<\/strong> strengthened its position as one of Ghana\u2019s leading radio brands as the station bagged<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/12\/20\/citi-fm-wins-6-gja-awards-anti-galamsey-campaign-recognized\/\"> six awards<\/a><\/strong><\/span> at today\u2019s [Wednesday] Ghana Journalists Association [GJA] awards at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>The station\u2019s anti-galamsey campaign, \u2018Stop Galamsey Now\u2019, which was launched earlier this year, came up for special mention at the ceremony, with the station picking up an award for its unrelenting fight against the menace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi FM\u2019s<\/strong> flagship programme, the Citi Breakfast Show, was named the best talk-show on radio, adding to the award it won at the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) awards in September this year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-384886 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0725.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0725.jpg 675w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0725-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi FM<\/strong> also picked up honours for Best Political Reporting as well as an Anti-Corruption Award for the station.<\/p>\n<p>Host of the station\u2019s news analysis programme, The Big Issue, Umaru Sanda Amadu, also picked up an award for his work in development journalism, which is contributing towards the attainments of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-384888 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0750.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0750.jpg 675w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0750-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another of the station\u2019s reporters, Kojo Agyeman, who emerged first runner-up in the 2017 edition of the Ghana Mining Industry Awards, was also given a special award for his reports.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-384891 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0799.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0799.jpg 675w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0799-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>His reports were key to the #StopGalamseyNow campaign which eventually prompted the Minister of Lands and National Resources, John Peter Amewu to crack down on the illegal miners.<\/p>\n<p>A six-month ban was imposed, and was eventually extended by three more months to January 2018.<\/p>\n<p>List of awards won by <strong>Citi FM<\/strong> at the 2017 GJA Awards:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Special Award for the Fight Against Illegal Mining.<br \/>\n<strong>2.<\/strong> Anti-Corruption Award<br \/>\n<strong>3.<\/strong> Best Talk show (Radio)<br \/>\n<strong>4.<\/strong> Best Political Reporting<br \/>\n<strong>5.<\/strong> Development Journalism for Furthering SDGs \u2013 Umaru Amadu Sanda<br \/>\n<strong>6.<\/strong> Special Awards for Fight Galamsey \u2013 Kojo Agyeman<\/p>\n<p>Some four Multimedia journalists also received awards.<\/p>\n<p>Joy News\u2019 Latif Iddrisu received award for best reporter anti narcotic. He was also awarded for his role in the anti-galamsey fight.
