{"id":383913,"date":"2017-12-16T15:45:14","date_gmt":"2017-12-16T15:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=383913"},"modified":"2017-12-16T15:52:11","modified_gmt":"2017-12-16T15:52:11","slug":"no-room-for-division-after-delegates-conference-freddie-blay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/12\/no-room-for-division-after-delegates-conference-freddie-blay\/","title":{"rendered":"No room for division after Delegates\u2019 Conference &#8211; Freddie Blay"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"e5f1f\" data-offset-key=\"48vsk-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"48vsk-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"48vsk-0-0\">The Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has called on delegates to ensure that they resolve any lingering issues they might have before they leave the party\u2019s Extraordinary National Delegates\u2019 Conference in Kumasi<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mr. Blay said the NPP can take a step closer to retaining power in the 2020 general elections if Sunday\u2019s Delegates&#8217; Conference is conducted in a peaceful manner.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;TOqScIEL8XxgtgqDEMUJJcZkJ20iwaox&#8221;]\u201cThis is a family gathering; a meeting to see how best to ensure that our party is strong and formidable for future elections,\u201d Mr. Blay said.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of NPP delegates are arriving in Kumasi for the Extraordinary National Delegates\u2019 Conference to, among other things, decide on amendments to portions of the party\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Delegates will vote on Sunday to expand the Electoral College that elects the party&#8217;s National Youth Organizer and Women\u2019s Organizer.<\/p>\n<p>Some members of the party have also called for a review of the requirements for qualification to be elected into the constituency and regional executive positions.<\/p>\n<p>The argued that only persons who have gone through the ranks of the party at the local level, should be given the chance to vie for such positions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Disagreement over amendments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Already, there have a number of concerns raised over some of the proposed amendments to the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, the NPP-USA branch, this week, issued a strongly-worded statement accusing some persons in the party of hijacking the process.<\/p>\n<p>But speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, Mr. Blay says such assertions will not be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are here to do something good for our great party, all these allegations and counter allegations will not help us\u2026 the party should consolidate its gains, work to improve its fortunes and that\u2019s what is important,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday&#8217;s Extraordinary Conference follows the NPP&#8217;s Annual National Delegates Conference in August at Cape Coast.<\/p>\n<p>The governing party will go to Congress in May 2018 to elect new National Officers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Sammi Wiafe\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has called on delegates to ensure that they resolve any lingering issues they might have before they leave the party\u2019s Extraordinary National Delegates\u2019 Conference in Kumasi Mr. Blay said the NPP can take a step closer to retaining power in the 2020 general [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":14,"featured_media":383919,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[58,10,11],"tags":[1857,3,56],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>No room for division after Delegates\u2019 Conference - Freddie Blay - Citi 97.3 FM - Relevant Radio.
