{"id":383137,"date":"2017-12-14T07:24:40","date_gmt":"2017-12-14T07:24:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=383137"},"modified":"2017-12-14T17:40:18","modified_gmt":"2017-12-14T17:40:18","slug":"policeman-in-nungua-supermarket-robbery-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/12\/policeman-in-nungua-supermarket-robbery-arrested\/","title":{"rendered":"Policeman in Nungua supermarket robbery arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A police officer, Corporal Raymond Amegashie, who is believed to be the leader of a robbery gang that attacked and robbed a supermarket in Nungua in the Greater Accra Region, has been arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Corporal Amegashie, who is with the Tema Police Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT), was apprehended alongside three other suspects after allegedly attacking and stealing GHc 54,000 from the Asante supermarket.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;tw1jiEz5axcj51tpAPKdgPNzbk70ZOgs&#8221;]According to the Accra Regional Police Commander, the police corporal was arrested while on his way to the Volta Region after escaping initial arrest.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_383410\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-383410\" style=\"width: 720px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-383410 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/robber.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/robber.jpg 720w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/robber-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-383410\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The suspect<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Two AK47s in his possession have been retrieved by the arresting officers.<\/p>\n<p>The police have promised to soon put the suspects before court after investigations into the crime are completed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Police complicit in crime<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An interdicted Police Constable, Samuel Asamoah of the Kasoa Police Station, was arrested for his alleged involvement in\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/07\/police-constable-businessman-arrested-for-robbery\/\">a GH\u00a27, 800<\/a><\/strong> robbery\u00a0at Swedru in September.<\/p>\n<p>Also in September, a Corporal, Effah Kyere Williams Boadu, an officer with the Upper East Regional Arms and Ammunitions Unit of the Ghana Police Service, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/20\/police-officer-interdicted-for-illegal-sale-of-guns\/\"><strong>was arrested<\/strong><\/a><\/span> for illegally selling firearms to unauthorized persons.<\/p>\n<p>The weapons this Corporal sold were used in another GHc 8,000 robbery which resulted in a victim sustaining\u00a0gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, in November, a Police officer and a supervisor at the Tema Motorway toll booth, were arrested in connection with a robbery incident were robbers on motorbikes broke into the toll booth and made away with about GHC 45,000.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Fred Djabanor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A police officer, Corporal Raymond Amegashie, who is believed to be the leader of a robbery gang that attacked and robbed a supermarket in Nungua in the Greater Accra Region, has been arrested.
