{"id":381745,"date":"2017-12-10T12:45:43","date_gmt":"2017-12-10T12:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=381745"},"modified":"2017-12-10T12:54:12","modified_gmt":"2017-12-10T12:54:12","slug":"kumaca-fumigated-over-swine-flu-fears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/12\/kumaca-fumigated-over-swine-flu-fears\/","title":{"rendered":"KUMACA fumigated over Swine flu fears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A private company contracted by the\u00a0Ministry of Education has carried out a fumigation exercise at the Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) following the suspected swine flu outbreak at the school.<\/p>\n<p>The pandemic strain of influenza type A, H1N1 2009\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/12\/07\/samples-from-kumaca-test-positive-for-swine-flu\/\"><strong>also known as Swine Flu<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0was detected in some students of the school and is believed to be related\u00a0to the deaths of four students.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise, which began on Sunday morning, comprises the general and viral fumigation of the school.<\/p>\n<p>The fumigation will be followed by an intensive clean-up exercise of all buildings and the entire environment of the school on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-381689\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Fumigation-exercise-underway-at-the-Kumasi-Academy-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_7987641155193591603gmail-MsoNormal\">The exercise covered all eight dormitories in the school, 45 classrooms the science laboratory, the dining and assembly halls, the kitchen, lavatories and the sick bay of the school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_7987641155193591603gmail-MsoNormal\">Most of the students have left the school for their various homes, leaving about 45 students at present in the school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_7987641155193591603gmail-MsoNormal\">The contractor in charge of the exercise and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OSCAPPA ventures, Oscar Osei Appau told\u00a0<b>Citi News<\/b>\u00a0that his outfit will ensure the exercise will be effective since the team is committed to fumigating every corner of the school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_7987641155193591603gmail-MsoNormal\">\u201cI believe that with this particular problem, every Ghanaian is concerned. Even though we do normal fumigation, viral fumigation, but for this particular one, in fact, it has included a number of deaths so every parent and anyone who is more concerned about the school knows the danger about this problem,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-381688\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Fumigation-exercise-underway-at-the-Kumasi-Academy-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_7987641155193591603gmail-MsoNormal\">&#8220;I believe that by the time we finish, we might have catered for whichever virus that was detected to be the cause of the problem in the school.
