{"id":380397,"date":"2017-12-06T09:40:52","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T09:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=380397"},"modified":"2017-12-06T10:34:15","modified_gmt":"2017-12-06T10:34:15","slug":"national-sanitation-is-a-process-requires-considerable-effort-boamah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/12\/national-sanitation-is-a-process-requires-considerable-effort-boamah\/","title":{"rendered":"National sanitation is a process; requires considerable effort \u2013 Boamah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deputy Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Patrick Boamah, has said that the national sanitation campaign launched by the President last month requires more determination and activism from Ghanaians in\u00a0order for\u00a0its aims and objectives to be achieved.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/13\/every-day-is-sanitation-day-nana-addo-launches-sanitation-campaign\/\"><strong>\u00a0National Sanitation Campaign<\/strong><\/a> was launched as part of measures by the government to improve the sanitary conditions in the country, especially in the national capital, Accra.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;bCG8huL7xkoXKeGVpAstc9XEiewpgI0O&#8221;]The move was to prevent\u00a0the recurrence of disease outbreaks like the cholera epidemic that killed a number of people in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not an event, it is a process, and I believe a lot of effort has to go into advocacy, in terms of physical work on the ground, in terms of people changing their attitude towards sanitation. So it is a process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the Deputy Minister rejected the suggestions that government is only wasting taxpayers&#8217; money by launching such a campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe we can well measure it maybe within a year or so to find out whether the launch has achieved its aims and objectives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that national sanitation campaign is not a duplication of National Sanitation Day, explaining that the newly-launched campaign is more involving.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the campaign encompasses a lot of things, and it&#8217;s a\u00a0process that is going to go throughout the whole year, unlike the National Sanitation Day which is just once in a month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Farida Yusif\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deputy Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Patrick Boamah, has said that the national sanitation campaign launched by the President last month requires more determination and activism from Ghanaians in\u00a0order for\u00a0its aims and objectives to be achieved.
