{"id":380200,"date":"2017-12-05T08:47:16","date_gmt":"2017-12-05T08:47:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=380200"},"modified":"2017-12-05T08:47:16","modified_gmt":"2017-12-05T08:47:16","slug":"sacked-starbow-workers-not-get-compensation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/12\/sacked-starbow-workers-not-get-compensation\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacked Starbow workers not to get any compensation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Citi Business News<\/strong>\u00a0has gathered that workers of Local airline, Starbow, who have been dismissed will not receive any compensation package.<\/p>\n<p>Scores of workers of the airline yesterday were issued with letters terminating their employment contract.<\/p>\n<p>A letter sighted by Citi Business News signed by the CEO of the company, Mr. James Eric Antwi stated that contracts of workers have been terminated effective November 30, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The letter further directed the workers to submit all their IDs and other company assets in their possession to the administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe write to serve you this days\u2019 notice of termination of your employment contract effective November 30, 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn accordance with the termination clause of the existing agreement between you and the company, the company is formally exercising its right to the said agreement\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It added, \u201cOn your last day of work, kindly liaise with the Human Resource and Administration Department to submit all company assets in your possession, including but not limited to ID cards, equipment, cell phones, work products (electronic and paper files) etc.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon receipt of these items, the payment of any outstanding amounts as stated due will be authorized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear whether the dismissals are due to the recent incident involving one of the company\u2019s aircrafts or due to operational challenges facing the airline.<\/p>\n<p>A Kumasi bound aircraft skidded off the runway at the Kotoka International Airport on Saturday, November 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0when it was preparing to take off.<\/p>\n<p>The Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Simon Allotey has also told Citi Business News the GCAA will investigate the operations of Starbow and proffer the necessary sanction if it is found culpable in the accident.<\/p>\n<p>Starbow is one of the two airline companies operating in Ghana\u2019s domestic airline industry.<\/p>\n<p>It has been in operations since September 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Already, three airlines, CityLink, Antrak and Royal Fly Gh are yet to resume operations after suffering a similar fate some three to four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Citibusinessnews.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Citi Business News\u00a0has gathered that workers of Local airline, Starbow, who have been dismissed will not receive any compensation package.
