Ghana has maintained\u00a0its position in the latest\u00a0Beach Soccer rankings\u00a0released by the Beach Soccer\u00a0Federation world wide\u00a0(BSww).<\/p>\n
Nicknamed the \u201dBlack\u00a0Sharks\u201d, team Ghana is\u00a0placed ahead of South\u00a0Africa and Algeria but\u00a0remain 60th in the world\u00a0and 8th in the African sub-region after an overall point\u00a0accumulation of 85.<\/p>\n
The lack of movement\u00a0on the log can be attributed\u00a0to the country\u2019s little\u00a0involvement in external\u00a0competitions since the last\u00a0ranking was released in\u00a0March 2014.<\/p>\n
But despite the\u00a0challenges facing beach\u00a0soccer development in the\u00a0West African state, it still\u00a0boasts of two concurrent\u00a0leagues.<\/p>\n
The Ghana Beach Soccer\u00a0Championship which is\u00a0sponsored by CAL Bank\u00a0enjoys a very modest package\u00a0of GH\u00a244,000\u00a0($11,920.00).<\/p>\n
Similarly, the\u00a0Division 1 League is also\u00a0made up of 10 teams but is\u00a0yet to find a sponsor to\u00a0invest in the fastest growing\u00a0sport in the world.<\/p>\n
There was little movement\u00a0generally on the\u00a0world stage too, with the\u00a0top 10 ranked nations\u00a0retaining their respective\u00a0spots.<\/p>\n
A similar situation pertains\u00a0on the continent as the\u00a0top 10 African teams\u00a0remain unchanged with\u00a0Senegal as the highest\u00a0ranked country.<\/p>\n
Following closely are\u00a0Nigeria, Cote d\u2019Ivoire,\u00a0Morocco, Egypt, Madagascar,\u00a0Libya, Ghana, Algeria\u00a0and South Africa completing\u00a0the top 10.<\/p>\n
Beach Soccer\u00a0spokesman, George Addo\u00a0welcomed the latest rankings\u00a0and said this year\u00a0would see a big improvement\u00a0in how the sport is\u00a0run in Ghana.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can do better with\u00a0more support and I am confident\u00a0that would happen\u00a0soon. Ghana has huge\u00a0potential in this sport and\u00a0we can only get better if we\u00a0put our house in order\u00a0now\u201d.<\/p>\n
A new Beach Soccer\u00a0Management team is\u00a0expected to be endorsed by\u00a0the Ghana Football Association\u00a0(GFA) any moment\u00a0from now to pave way for a\u00a0formidable re branding and\u00a0re-structuring of the sport.<\/p>\n
The Beach Soccer Association\u00a0is currently headed\u00a0by Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah,\u00a0who was elected as the\u00a0founder and President at a\u00a0GBSA Congress in 2011.<\/p>\n
He was unopposed and\u00a0retained in 2012 when the\u00a0entire executive was dissolved\u00a0after a vote-of no-confidence\u00a0motion was\u00a0passed by the clubs for\u00a0non-performance.<\/p>\n
