Officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) are currently interrogating the former NPP MP for Nkoranza North constituency, Eric Amoateng who arrived in the country after serving a 10-year jail term in the United States for drug related offences.<\/p>\n
According to Citi News<\/strong> sources, the interrogation is to de-brief him and also begin the process of confiscating his assets.<\/p>\n Citi News<\/strong> sources also say he might be slapped with a new charge for fraudulently obtaining a passport.<\/p>\n The former MP touched down at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra at exactly 1400 GMT on Delta airline number DL478.<\/p>\n After brief checks at the airport, he was whisked away for further interrogation at the Narcotic Control Board (NACOB) headquarters.<\/p>\n He was accompanied by two officers from the US State Department who were aboard his flight to ensure his transfer to Ghanaian state officials.<\/p>\n Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Kojo Agyeman reported that the NACOB officials were waiting for the ex-lawmaker on the tarmac \u201cso when he got there, two US State Department officials handed him over to the NACOB officials and they just whisked him away amidst tight security.\u201d<\/p>\n It is believed his lawyers are currently with him at the offices of NACOB.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, supporters from his constituency who thronged the airport to welcome him were left disappointed after he was whisked away by NACOB officials.<\/span><\/p>\n The ex-legislator was arrested on December 11, 2005, for illegal possession of 136 pounds of heroin estimated at about $6 million.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Benjamin Epton Owusu\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) are currently interrogating the former NPP MP for Nkoranza North constituency, Eric Amoateng who arrived in the country after serving a 10-year jail term in the United States for drug related offences.
