{"id":3777,"date":"2014-03-04T11:41:18","date_gmt":"2014-03-04T11:41:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=3777"},"modified":"2014-03-04T11:41:18","modified_gmt":"2014-03-04T11:41:18","slug":"mad-women-in-sekondi-takoradi-getting-pregnant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/03\/mad-women-in-sekondi-takoradi-getting-pregnant\/","title":{"rendered":"Mad women in Sekondi-Takoradi getting pregnant"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/pict_grid7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3778\" alt=\"pict_grid7\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/pict_grid7-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/pict_grid7-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/pict_grid7.jpg 540w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The Sekondi-Takoradi Director of the Social Welfare Department, Madam Deborah Daisey Kwabia, has expressed disgust at the action by some unidentified men \u00a0impregnating mentally retarded women in the metropolis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>She said the department had recorded three cases of pregnant mad women in the metropolis this year and her outfit was providing safety abode for them to deliver peacefully.<\/p>\n<p>Madam Kwabia told the media in Takoradi on Wednesday that it was a worrying situation because the department had to use its scarce resources to cater for such disadvantaged persons before and after their delivery.<\/p>\n<p>GNA investigations revealed that some unscrupulous men allegedly had sexual intercourse with the mad women for spiritual purposes or \u201cjuju\u201d in order to increase their fortunes.<\/p>\n<p>Some residents told the GNA that some men lured the mad women to isolated and dark places at night and engaged them in several bouts of sex.<\/p>\n<p>Under the laws of Ghana, it is illegal for anyone to have sex with an \u201cidiot or imbecile\u201d whether consensual or not.<\/p>\n<p>The laws say that a person who has canal knowledge of an idiot or an imbecile or a mental patient under the care of a mental hospital whether with or without the consent of that person, will be held liable.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a three-month old baby has been abandoned at a refuse dump at Kojokrom near Takoradi on February 16.<\/p>\n<p>A Good Samaritan found the baby and took him to the Sekondi Police Station and was subsequently sent to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital but died two days later.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: GNA<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sekondi-Takoradi Director of the Social Welfare Department, Madam Deborah Daisey Kwabia, has expressed disgust at the action by some unidentified men \u00a0impregnating mentally retarded women in the metropolis.
